Recovering deleted messages on iPhone can be a hassle. But it is fascinating indeed. There are mainly three methods by which you can recover text messages and iMessage from iPhone.

Retrieving with a simple shake

This method works only when you have just deleted a mail. If you exit the app, this method won’t work.

  • First of all, open your mail app.
  • When opened, shake the phone.
  • On shaking, a dialog box will appear.
  • The dialog box will have two options – Cancel, Undo.
  • Tap Undo and any recently deleted messages will get recovered instantly.

Retrieving using Mail Archive

  • Launch the settings.
  • Open the Mail, Contacts, Calendars option.
  • Select your mail account.
  • You will see at the bottom of your mail setting, Archive Messages option, turn it ON.
  • From now on, all deleted messages will go archive in all mails.
  • Exit setting and open the mail app.
  • Access the menu for the mail app.
  • Select the account from which you want to recover messages. In most cases, it is the primary account of your iPhone.
  • Open all mails from the options in your mail.
  • This will open all the messages, including the ones which are deleted.
  • Select the deleted message.
  • On selection, some buttons will appear below.
  • Select the option of recovery.
  • Repeat this for all messages.

Retrieving from Trash folder

  • Go to the mail app.
  • Go to the menu of the app.
  • Select your mail account.
  • From the options, select the folder named Trash.
  • In this folder, you will find the deleted messages.
  • From there, you can recover the messages you want to.
